Love Is Blind spoilers below.
There are certain shows that capture the public’s attention, dominating conversations at work, online and in the group chat.
Love Is Blind sits firmly in that category.
The Netflix reality series pairs up individuals who “date” without coming face to face, communicating via their individual “pods”, with zero access to technology or any other outside interruptions.
“When you have a conversation with someone, we tend to be distracted, checking our devices,” creator Chris Coelen told Deadline. “If you’re on a dating app, you have so many choices that you’re constantly going to the next one, or you become focused on very superficial things, or people discount you for very superficial things.
“We all feel sort of disposable. This show set out to address those things.”
Then, if they’re feeling the love, the contestants can propose and if the other person accepts, they both finally get to see who they’ve been talking to.
The pair go on holiday together, after which they spend a period of time living under the same roof before the day of the wedding.
Some then decide to make it official and say yes. Others go their separate ways.
But will the show be back for round two?
There has already been a season-one reunion on Netflix’s YouTube channel, hosted by Vanessa and Nick Lachey.
All six couples – Lauren and Cameron, Carlton and Diamond, Kelly and Kenny, Giannina and Damian, Barnett and Amber, and Jessica and Mark – were there to answer some pretty difficult questions about their time on the show, and how life on the outside has been for them.
As for season two, Netflix has confirmed that it’s happening.
And in big news, season three has also been given the greenlight.
“We are shooting season two and three,” host Vanessa Lachey told Hollywood Life.
Coelen, who also produces Netflix’s Too Hot to Handle, previously spoke about how long he thinks the series can run for.
“I want to see a season two or a season 12, don’t you?” he said during an interview with OprahMag.com, before going on to say that there could be as many as “15 or 20 seasons”.
He also admitted that he had no idea how successful the first season would be.
“I believed enough in the universality of the idea, and I felt strongly that people connecting in this way was a good enough idea, an interesting enough idea, a radical enough idea, that I felt like people would develop real, emotional connection,” he said in February 2020. “But I truly had no idea that it was going to be as successful as it was.”
Now on to the next chapter…
Here’s everything you need to know.
Love Is Blind season 2 release date: When will it air?
While a release date for season two of the US version of Love Is Blind hasn’t been formally announced (though it probably will be February 2022), there is some great news for fans of the series that has definitely been confirmed.
There is another version of the show coming soon – Love Is Blind Japan will be on Netflix in February 2022.
Chris Coelen had previously hinted there was the possibility of taking the show abroad, in the interview with Variety: “That’ll be a conversation that we have with Netflix, but I think there’s lots of great cities that we could go to.
“The idea is that ultimately we’re going to do this in other countries – it’s very global. There’s so many different places that we could go. And like I said, outside of the country as well.”
The series will follow the same format, and will be hosted by Takashi Fujii and Yuka Itaya.
Love Is Blind season 2 casting and auditions: Who’s in it?
Coelen previously told Entertainment Weekly that the contestants are chosen by a casting department who “reached out to people who they felt would be genuinely interested in this kind of commitment”.
He added: “We want people who aren’t just doing it for the attention. There’s certainly plenty of places for people who want to do stuff for the attention.
“We wanted to be really dealing with people who were genuinely interested in it.”
Appearing previously on the Ellen show, season one’s Damian chatted about his casting process, and it’s unconventional to say the least: “I’m probably one of the most interesting cases because they actually found me on Tinder. I started chatting with this girl, [we] hit it off. She was like, ‘Add me on Instagram’.
“[She told me], ‘I’m a casting producer’, and now I’m here.”
There is also an application page where you can throw your hat in the ring if you’re looking for love.
The entire first season cast were from Atlanta because that’s where the custom-built facility was located.
“We wanted people to all be living currently in the same place,” Coelen told Variety.
“It’s too difficult if you’re from Tampa and they’re from Portland. That just throws another wrench in. We wanted to give them a real shot at making their love and their marriage work.”
It turns out that Love Is Blind started casting around for singletons in Chicago in September, for a series that should arrive on Netflix in 2022.
“It is juicy and it comes out February of 2022,” Vanessa Lachey said of the new series when she was asked by Entertainment Tonight in September, although that start date has yet to be confirmed. She also revealed there might not be too long a wait for season three.
“So we shot season two, and I don’t know, am I allowed to say? We shot season three already,” she said.
Chatting to Metro, Coelen was asked about the possibility of featuring LGBTQ+ contestants: “This is not a show that is particularly about sexuality. But with that said… I do think that, based on the setup of it, a LGBTQ+ version of that has some logistical difficulties in the current setup.
“But do I think there is some sort of variation that might ultimately work? Potentially! I would love to figure that out.”
Love Is Blind season 2 trailer: When can I watch it?
We’re a long way off a brand new trailer just yet, but as soon as it lands we’ll pop it right here, because we’re nice like that.
Expect a lot more of the same.
Love Is Blind season one couples: Who’s still together, and who went their separate ways?
The aim of the game is to find love and get hitched, but did it work out for the season one couples?
Lauren and Cameron – married.
The pair also revealed to E! News’ Pop of the Morning that they’re up for filming a spin-off because they “want to share more of [their] story”.
Amber and Matt – married.
They revealed the news to People: “We’re overjoyed for Ace to grow up with a sibling so close in age and we are excited to continue growing our family and meeting our next baby Cuevas in March 2022.”
Giannina and Damian – didn’t marry, but they did start dating. They were back together for the reunion episode, but have since split up.
Kelly and Kenny – didn’t marry. Kenny is engaged to new partner Alexandra Garrison.
Carlton and Diamond – the couple didn’t make it through to the wedding stage after deciding that they just weren’t the right fit for one another.

There was also another couple, Danielle Drouin and Rory Newbrough, who fell in love in the pods and got engaged. But they barely featured.
“There was so much more to our story…” she wrote in an Instagram post. “These pictures are from our reveal day when we met for the first time.”

But it looks like they moved on with different partners after the show, according to social media.
Chatting to Entertainment Weekly, Coelen did reveal that they “actually [had] more success on this show…than we were even able to document”, adding: “We actually had more couples get engaged than we were able to follow.”
That number was originally eight.
